Profiles of speakers

 Michel Jaccard

Michel Jaccard is founder of id est avocats, a boutique law firm based in Lausanne. He is a technology and corporate law expert, having practised in Europe and USA. He serves clients including early stage, equity or debt financed companies and entrepreneurs in the Lake of Geneva region.

In 2012, Michel Jaccard was named "deal maker of the year" by a UK legal guide and one of 300 most influentiasl person in Switzerland by Bilan magazine. 

Pfister

Peter A. Pfister is an investor and board member of several start-up and early stage companies in Switzerland. He also served on the board of CTI Invest. He has been President of Adecco North America and held senior managerial positions at Adia and Kraft Jacobs Suchard.

Jan Fülscher

Jan Fülscher is a business angel since 2002, and he's an active member of the start-up community since 2006. He has invested in about a dozen start-up companies and was an active CxO and member of the board for some of them. He's also coach and mentor for a number of organizations, e.g. HUB Zürich, StartupWeekend Switzerland, Centralway, VentureLab, and others. Jan is director of Business Angels Switzerland and he has recently set up the new format ICT Investor's Day. Jan teaches about start-up financing at the University of Zurich and other Swiss universities. His personal investment focus is on Web and ICT projects, and his area of expertise covers monetization, marketing, financing, and business development strategy. Jan holds a Master of Arts in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Zurich. 

 C. Wenger

Christian Wenger specializes in commercial and business law, with a focus on private equity, venture capital and mergers & acquisitions. In connection therewith, he primarily represents institutional investors and entrepreneurs within the scope of financing rounds and corporate takeovers.

He serves as chairman and member of various boards of directors of Swiss and international companies. Christian Wenger is a member of the Executive Committee of SECA (Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association) and, as member of the committee, leads the chapter “Venture Capital and Seed”. In this function, he works on a pro bono basis for various federal and cantonal projects for the promotion of young entrepreneurs and the promotion of Switzerland as a location for technology.

In 2003, he founded CTI Invest, an investor platform (association) connected to the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI), which he has chaired since its establishment. 

2011 he launched together with the City of Zurich, Zürcher Kantonalbank and Swisscom AG the incubator Blue Lion for start-ups in the ICT and Cleantech industry. 

Christian Wenger studied at the University of Zurich and earned his doctorate degree with a thesis on the topic “The Conditional Capital”. He completed his academic career with graduate studies at Duke University Law School in North Carolina (LL.M.)

Beat Speck

Beat Speck's practice focuses on the areas of the purchase and sale of companies (M&A), the establishment of companies at new locations, succession planning, joint ventures and corporate governancIn this regard, he handles, in particular, the entire life cycle of venture capital and private equity financings: he advises national and international investors on the structuring of funds, he accompanies the investment process in the holding companies, he is available to them during the holding phase and he helps all participants achieve a successful exit (IPO, M&A). As attorney-at-law and notary public of Canton Zug, he can efficiently offer the individual processes from one source.
Beat Speck regularly publishes articles in these areas. Further, he is a member of SECA, the Swiss Private Equity and Corporate Finance Association, as well as the Private Equity Chapter of Meritas, an international network of business law firms, with over 6,500 attorneys in more than 60 countries.

Bodmer

Philip Bodmer is an investor and board member of several start-up and early stage companies in Switzerland. He also serves on the board of CTI Invest. He is also President of the Board of Trustees of the "Swiss National Foundation for Advancement of the Swiss Economy through Scientific Research", Zurich. A national foundation granting interest free loans to Swiss technology start ups. He is also member of various juries (by invitation) to assess worthiness of venture business plans for financial grants.

Balz

Balz Roth is an  experienced business angel, entrepreneur, board member and advisor.  He is a partner at Go Beyond, involved in the selection process and investment structuring. He has experience in coaching startups in strategy development, business engineering and operational excellence. Balz is a board member of Lemoptix SA (MEMS based pico-projectors), INM AG (Online, social media marketing), Shadow Government (Social mobile game) and advisor, coach for Faction Collective SA (Skiing industry), Gramitech SA (Cleantech). He has been an entrepreneur in the technology/media environment and the lifestyle/entertainment industry.

Klaus Dieter Otto

Dr.-Ing. Klaus Dieter Otto has been active as a private investor since 2002 and is member of the b-to-v circle of investors. His professional experience includes over 25 years in automotive, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics industries. He has served on the board of Hilti AG and several start-up and midsize companies in Germany, England, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Hanold Pascal

Pascal Honold, lawyer at Wenger&Vieli Zurich. Pascal Honold's practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, contract law, stock exchange law and sports law. He advises his clients in connection with domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, private equity and venture capital investments. Pascal Honold was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 2002 and to the New York State Bar in 2012.He holds a Master of Laws  from Fordham University School of Law, New York.

Pierre Strubin

Pierre Strubin is the Director of Fongit incubator and Vice-Chairman of  Fongit Seed Invest (FSI). He  previously worked at ABB, IEC and LEM, where he had General management position. He has been on the board of several start-up and growing companies including Anteis, CEC, Dexens, Mobincom, Proxares, Thalent. Pierre holds a degree in electrical engineering, a MA in Finance and a MBA in Management.

Luc Olivier Bauer

Luc-Olivier Bauer is on the Board of of Neode  incubator  and serves as advisor to Nanodimension VC fund. He has 30 years experience in developing and managing high technology companies. He co-founded Eurosil, nCHIP, SVISION, Hana Microdisplay Technologies, and served in various executive positions as chairman, board member, and general manager. He was part of the executive team of Integrated Device Technology at the time of its IPO in the 80’s. He currently is on the board of  Crocus Nanoelelectronics, and has served on the  BoD of Xtellus,  Oclaro,  Seyonic, Optilux, Starloc, Innoparc, in the US and Switzerland. He holds a MSC. in Physics from EPFL and  a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from Caltech.

Martine Reindle is a business angel investor and serves on the board of  several medtech and biotech companies. She is a member of BAS with  passion for innovation and entrepreneurial ventures. She started her career with IBM and founded a software company in the financial communication services. Martine Reindle holds a master in Political science. She is an enthusiastic opera goer. 

Pascal Dutheil is a member of Business Angel Club BAS Romandie. He is the founder of   Andromede consulting,  providing entrepreneurs with coaching, financing and business expansion services and serves as  CTI Startup coach. In recent years he advised  over twenty financing transactions including financing rounds, trade sales, MBO.  He acquired his experience in various management  functions at Kuoni and BAT British American Tobacco.  He holds an MBA from HEC Lausanne.

Frank Gerritzen is  President of BAS Romandie business Angel Club.  He has 15 years experience in human resources, serving as  board member of Careerplus Group SA, a leading recruitment consultant in Switzerland  with several brands and partnerships. Previously he worked in the field of international trade in Switzerland and USA. He is also founder of the Swiss chapter of Wealth Peer Group, an  association facilitating networksing among  ‘High Net Worth Individuals’ . Frank holds both Dutch and Swiss nationalities, is married and has two adolescent children. He is an avid mountain climber and skier.

Diego

Diego Braguglia is a general Partner at VI Partners in Zurich. His experience covers  medical devices and pharmaceuticals where he had managerial positions. He is a committee member  at SECA  focused on  early-stage investment.

Colin Turner Colin Turner  has 20 years of experience in venture capital, operations, fund-raising and as legal counsel. While at Inventages, the “Nestle Fund” (Geneva, Switzerland), Intel Capital (Swindon, UK, Silicon Valley, USA and Munich, Germany) and Motorola (London, UK and Chicago, USA) Colin worked across 5 continents on over 200 investments, acquisitions, listings and divestments in companies operating in high-tech, health-care and bio-technology. Colin earned an MBA from INSEAD and qualified as a lawyer in the United Kingdom. He serves on the board of  greenTEK ventures and  Attolight.

Dominique Freymond has been an Independent director of several SMEs since 1997. He is vice-president of the Swiss Institute for Board members (SIVG) and lecturer at ACAD director academy www.acad.ch  and a consultant  in strategy, corporate governance and information technology at MAS. He currently serves on the boards of Swiss Post, SolvAxis.He has expertise on financial services, software and utilities industries.

Andreas Giesbrecht, is Managing Director at Credit Suisse where he is Head of Corporate banking, responsible for customers in western Switzerland. He also supports small and medium enterprises by serving  as chairman of the
organizing committee of  the Swiss Venture Club (SVC) in Suisse Romande.  He shares SVC's goal  "firms nominated at SVC prize shoud serve as an example to others."  He gratuated from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

 Martin Velasco

Martin Velasco entrepreneur and Business Angel with extensive experience in the IT, medical and biotech areas. Martin Velasco is considered a leading European “Business Angel” by the Wall Street Journal and one of the leaders of European change by Business Week. He serves on the Board of several high-tech companies such as AC-Immune (WEF Technology Pioneer 2009), Anecova (WEF Technology Pioneer 2008), ART - In Vivo Fertilization, Sumerian, IT Analytics, Cocomore, Digital Communications Agency & IT Services and Aridhia, Health Informatics. Claude Florin is President of A3 Angels a seed BA Club founded by alumni of EPFL. He is a partner at Venture Concept providing advisory services in early stage technology investments. He is a coach at CTI start-up program and serves as a Director in a telecom start-us. He has been Director of strategic marketing and R&D manager at Hewlett-Packard Communications and media. Previously he led managerial positions in innovation in the medical technology sector.

Jean–Pierre Vuilleumier is Director at W.A. de Vigier Foundation and director at CTI Invest. He is a business angel investor, advisor to Start Angels Network and a financial coach at CTI start-up program. He teaches Entrepreneurship classes at Venturelab and is a lecturer in Universities and ETH. He has been CEO in a Venture Capital company and Professor of Finance at the University of Fribourg.
